Abstract:

Different types of contact, including contact between node pairs, any-contact of nodes, and contacts of the entire network, are used to characterize social relations in Mobile social networks. Different modes of routing, from the point of view of message delivery semantics, encompass unicasting, multicasting, any-casting, and broadcasting. Studies have shown that using probability distribution functions of contact data, which is mainly assumed to be homogeneous for nodes, improves the performance of these networks. However, there exists an important challenge in studies on distributions. A lot of works apply the distribution of one type of contact to other types. Hence in routing applications, it causes to use of the distribution of one type of contact for any mode of routing. This study provides a complete solution to model each type of homogeneous contact data distribution and to use them in different modes of routing. We propose a routing algorithm that uses this new model. Results show that our solution improves the average latency of comparing methods Epidemic, TCCB, and DR about 3.5-times, 30%, and 45%, respectively. It achieves a delivery rate of about 5% and 6%, and average latency about 6% and 8% better than that of DR and TCCB, respectively.

Objective(s): Aging is manifesting as a major global issue. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between the use of social networks with quality of life and depression in the elderly of Tehran in 2023. Methods: The was a cross-sectional study that was conducted on a sample of 235 elderlies who visited selected health centers and met the inclusion criteria. A demographic questionnaire, a social network usage questionnaire, a Persian version of the CASP-19 elderly quality of life questionnaire and a Persian version of the elderly depression questionnaire (GDS-15) were used to collect data. Also, statistical analysis was done using SPSS-26 statistical software. Results: The mean age of participant was 64. 82 ± 3. 61 years (range 60-84), and 55. 7% were women. The mean score of social network use was 20. 29±3. 87 out of 65, the total quality of life score was 38. 27±8. 29 out of 57, and the total depression score was 6. 43±1. 72 out of 15. In addition, the use of virtual network was significantly associated with decreased quality of life (P<0. 001). However, the use of virtual network did not show significant relationship with the level of depression of the elderly (P=0. 235). Conclusions: It seems that the use of social networks might decline the quality of life of the elderly while no apparent significant association was found with increased depression.

Abstract:

The researcher in this study aims to find the various dimensions of effects of Mobile based social networks on development of social participation. In current societies all civil institutions have omitted the spatial and temporal limitations of their members through using the Mobile based social networks and the members can participate in their favorite activities in any time and any place. On one hand the Cooperative organizations provides the preparation of people to connect to the society more by achieving their attention to cooperate and increases the individual participation in social affairs and on other hand leads people to engage in active and voluntarily participation through development of social networks and strengthening social solidarity. The research method is survey and the data has been achieved through questionnaire. The formal validity has been applied and the reliability has been attained through Cronbach Alpha. The statistical population includes experts in Communication Studies and journalists. Sampling method is purposeful sampling and the sample is equal to 60 people. The result of study shows that: the highest factor is dedicated to self-publishing. The second highest factor is overall finally, the possibility of quick feedback is the third important factor in determination of the Mobile based social network rolls on development of social participation. It has to be said that the low expenses of participation have the least effect on developing the political participation.

Abstract:

Mobile social networks facilitate connections through Mobile devices, and users of these networks can use Mobile to access, share and distribute information. With increasing the number of users on social networks, the large amount of shared information and the dissemination of created information cause some problems such as rumor propagation and access to incorrect information. The most powerful tools for validity of received information is based upon the trust value which is assigned by the others. However, considering the subjective and perceptive nature of the concept of trust, the mapping of trust in a computational model is one of the important issues in computing systems of social networks. In addition, there may be various communities on social networks and all users will not be directly connected to each other, which leads to a more complex process of calculating trust. In this research, using user characteristics in social networks, a fuzzy classification approach is proposed, and the trust is computed between users in a class using a computational model. Also trust is gained between users who are not directly connected, using the combination, transition and aggregation processes. By comparing the results, it can be seen that the proposed method recognizes trustworthy people with high precision.

Abstract:

Mobile social networks (MSNs) are a special type of Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) in which Mobile devices communicate opportunistically to each other. One of the most challenging issues in Mobile social networks (MSNs) is to design an efficient message forwarding scheme that has a high performance in terms of delivery ratio, latency and communication cost. There are two different approaches for message forwarding: the single copy and the multi copy. In the single copy schemes, only one copy of a message exists in the network, which is carried by a custodian relay. On the other hand, in multi copy schemes more than one copy of the message exist. Although the multi copy schemes generally have superior performance in terms of delivery ratio and latency, they incur high congestion in the network, which consequently degrades the network performance and increases message forwarding cost. Therefore, we present a scheme for managing the number of replica and selecting appropriate relays in order to increase the performance and decrease the forwarding cost. In this paper, we present a novel message forwarding scheme, named Multi Copy Community Aware Forwarding (MCCAF), for managing the number of message replicas and selecting appropriate relays in order to increase the performance and decrease the forwarding cost. MCCAF only forwards one replica of message to each community that the destination node belongs to it. In order to find communities and nodes’ future communities, MCCAF exploits a hidden semi-Markov model (HSMM). In the proposed method, hidden states represent communities and environmental chronological information such as location, visited nodes and access points are modeled as observation in HSMM. To have a more precise community prediction, the semi-Markov model is extended to compute the likelihoods of a node being in a particular community after N transitions. After that, appropriate relays are selected to forward a message with taking into account the message expiration time, future communities of relays and the number of message replica. Evaluation results on real traces demonstrate that the MCCAF has superior performance over rival schemes in terms of delivery ratio, latency, and forwarding cost. Specifically, MCCAF yields on average about 8% better delivery ratio and about 23% less delivery delay than the nearest rival method.

Abstract:

Introduction: Concerning the role of young people in national development and culture of any society, the negative effects of Mobile social networks will lead to their failure in achievement of the objectives of society. Therefore, awareness of these networks and effective use of them could preperly help them in their roles. The present study intends to identify the crimes and perception of youth of Birjand city who have committed crimes in social networks. Method: The population of study includes 29 young people of Birjand city who have committed crimes in Mobile social networks using targeted sampling and semi-structured interview. Data was analyzed in three stages of open coding, axial and selective coding which yielded 102 open codes. Then axial coding was done and effort was taken to associate open codes. In this stage, the codes of the nature of crime, type of crime, the factors leading to crime, prohibitory factors, consequences and solutions were identified. Findings: The findings of coding indicate that highest emphasis was on committing some crimes such as publishing prohibited photos, relation with opposite sex or breaking privacy. The interviewers believed that the crime factors initiate from environmental and social factors and end in individual factors. Concerning solutions and strategies, the individual "himself" has the highest importance and then the solutions related to society and associated organizations are at the next rank in terms of importance. Conclusion: The crimes of Mobile social networks were identified in four main categories of "belief", "involving factors", "consequences" and "solutions". In sum, it is possible to consider these factors on a spectrum where "family and educational factors" and "governance" have some tasks and duties. The "solutions" presented by the respondents indicate that the key axis is the individual "himself", personal awareness and capabilities.

Abstract:

Today, the use of Mobile social networks has become an important and sensitive issue. It is rooted in several social factors. In the present era, the level of users’ skills has also become a vital issue for human societies. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between users’ skills and positive and negative uses of Mobile social networks. To conduct this survey, a multi-stage cluster sampling method was used and 385 young people in Yazd, Iran were selected. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire that was validated with content and structural validity as well as Cronbach's alpha coefficient for reliability. The findings showed that there were significant relationships between the users’ skills and negative and positive uses of Mobile social networks. The users’ skills explained 0. 33% and 0. 14% of the variance of positive and negative uses of Mobile social networks, respectively. The results of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) also showed that the model had a suitable goodness of fit.
